As there is so much variation between window shapes and styles, it can be almost impossible to find off the shelf curtains that are the perfect fit. With so many colours, patterns and styles to choose from, A G Curtain Design in Wallingford can expertly advise, design and make all of your window dressings.
Beautiful bespoke curtains - a step-by step guide
Our bespoke made-to-measure curtains are offered in a range of styles headings and fabrics with optional lining and/or interlining. We work with you at every stage and offer a complete start-to finish service.
Step one:
Measure your window(s) and make a note of the required measurements as detailed in our measuring guide. If you are unable to measure your own windows please get in touch with us to arrange an appointment for our free measuring service.
Step two:
Complete our online quotation form, give us a call or pop into our Wallingford retail store. If you would like to discuss your options, please feel free to contact us and one of our friendly members of staff will be in touch.
Step three:
We will then provide a quote based on the information provided by yourself. All our quotes detail the cost to make your curtains with an estimated cost for fabrics and trimming which will vary depending on your choices in the next step.
Step four:
Once you've accepted our quote the fun bit begins! This is where you choose your fabrics and trimmings. We have a vast range of pattern books in stock which you are welcome to borrow so that you can make your fabric selections at home to coordinate with your existing décor.
If we have not already measured your windows for you, and you wish us to do so, this is also where we will take final measurements of your windows prior to making your curtains. If there is any variation in the measurements provided initially a new quotation will be drafted for your acceptance.
Step five:
Once you have chosen your fabric and your deposit has been received the curtain making process will begin. This can take between 4 and 6 weeks depending on the time of year. If you have ordered any poles or tracks this is also when they will be fitted by our professional fitting team who will then take finished curtain lengths.
What curtain heading styles are available?
Pinch pleats
With the option of double or triple pleats, pinch pleat headings are suitable for use with a variety of tracks or poles.
Eyelet
A great selection of 40mm eyelets in colours to match our range of metal poles.
Cartridge pleats
A single pleat which creates a simple style for large or distinctive patterned fabrics.
Pencil pleats
This style uses a 3" or 6” heading tape. A traditional yet timeless curtain heading suitable for tracks or poles.
Wave
A very stylish curtain heading and track system by Silent Gliss offering smooth, simple and continuous wave effect. The wave heading stacks back neatly, taking up less space than most traditional pleated headings.
A wide selection of wooden, metal and PVC curtain track and poles
Poles
A stunning collection of wooden and metal poles all with their own choice of decorative finials.
Wooden – from 28mm to 50mm in diameter, available in a range of different finishes including hand painted, stained wood, washed and waxed.
Metal – from 19mm to 50mm in diameter in a range of four different contemporary finishes – black nickel, chrome, spun brass and stainless steel.
Tracks
Supplied in either metal or PVC, depending on the weight of your curtains, tracks can be corded or non-corded and either fixed to the ceiling or wall.
Tracks can also be made to measure to fit around bay windows or other awkward window shapes.
Metropoles
Metropoles look like a normal curtain pole but have the function of a curtain track. Gliders run smoothly in channels unhindered by brackets or rings. With 13 different colours of track the poles can be corded or non-corded and paired with your choice from a superb range of finials. They are suitable for wave heading or pinch pleated headings on curtains.
Available in spans up to 6 metres they are perfect for bi-fold doors and can be made-to-measure for bay windows.
For the ultimate solution we also have a fully motorised range available in a choice of 6 colours with the option of wall switch, timer or remote control operation.
